MLB 2K12 Wii My Player Walkthrough Part 1 - Draft Day

Welcome back to our MLB 2K12 walkthrough series, where we'll guide you through every aspect of this exciting baseball video game. In today's installment, we're focusing on one specific mode that has captured the hearts and minds of many a sports enthusiast: My Player.

As its name suggests, My Player puts you in control of your own virtual MLB sensation as they rise from relative obscurity to become an undisputed legend of American baseball. So without further ado, let's dive right into it!

Step 1 - Creating Your Custom Player

Once you've selected the appropriate difficulty level (or turned off all AI opponents if you're feeling particularly confident), your first task is to create your very own My Player.

Begin by choosing a name for yourself that reflects either your real-life identity or whatever fictional persona suits your fancy. For this example, we'll stick with something simple yet effective - 'John Smith'.

Next up comes the fun part: customizing your player's appearance and attributes! You can choose from an array of different skin tones, hair styles, facial features, etc., until you're completely satisfied with how they look on screen.

Once happy with their physical appearance (or lack thereof), it's onto determining each attribute stat. These range across hitting (.power/.speed/.contact/etc.), fielding (.range/.throwAccuracy) and base running speed (base steal attempt success rate). You'll want to balance these stats accordingly depending upon whether you're looking for a contact hitter who will get on base via walks + singles or someone more power-hitting oriented.

Step 2 - The MLB Draft

Now that we've created our custom player, it's time to head into the draft. In this mode of My Player, you'll have six rounds (or as many as your team has picks left) with which to select new talent for your squad.

As a general rule of thumb when drafting late-round prospects like in real-life MLB drafts - focus on grabbing guys who can play multiple positions early round & then fill out positional needs later.

Here are some specific suggestions based off our example draft:

RD 1: SP A.J. Burnett (A solid #2 starter with good stuff)

RD 2: OF Colby Rasmus (Another young gun looking to make an impact)
